It is not enough to tell employees that they are the most important company asset, it is necessary to show them. CEOs should therefore be involved in talent management initiatives and show a clear example to their people. What exactly does that mean?
1. Creating culture where people are in the first place
No CEO should ever delegate this responsibility. He should proceed from a simple premise - to treat employees as customers. It means to monitor their needs and support as flexible approaches to meet them as possible.
2. Involving continuous development
CEO can play an active role in talent management when fostering an environment in which employees meet future needs through continuous development. Through company managers, they should allow employees to choose what interests them and ensure they could grow in the areas further.
3. Involving yourself
CEO should not think that it is enought to just select a corporate training program that everybody except himself will have to take part in. He must clearly show that he believes in the content of the company-wide training program. As a participant, he will have a unique opportunity to lead by example.
