According to INC.com, when building your own personal brand you should proceed in three basic steps:
Define for yourself who you are and what makes you special
A personal brand must be based on certain personal traits that are yours only. Do not try to be someone you are not; instead, support and develop your own genuine good characteristics. At the core of your personal brand should be an answer to the question: "How is this person helpful to others and what asset do they bring to the world?“ Emphasise those of your traits that somehow help people around you.
Integrate your key personal traits into everything you do
The traits within your personal brand should manifest themselves in everything you do, ideally in both your personal and working life. If you want to be seen, for example, as 100% reliable, people must be able to count on you everywhere in every situation. But remember that building your personal brand is a long-term process that will take some time.
Actively advertise your brand
Do not expect people simply to notice your new brand and automatically accept it. You must advertise it actively. Share articles on LinkedIn concerning your expertise, present yourself as a professional in a particular field, self-learn new things in certain fields, and meticulously work on your reputation as an expert. Never let anybody doubt who you are, what you do and what you personally respect in yourself.
